The Madison Township Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 500 block of Groveport’s Tallman Street on Jan. 19. Madison Township Fire Chief Derek Robinson said there were no injuries. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but the fire was confirmed to have originated in the basement of the home. “The basement suffered the most damage with some smoke and fire damage also occurring on the first floor,” said Robinson. “The first responding companies arrived within five minutes of the call. Water was applied to the seat of the fire, in the basement, approximately 3 minutes after the arrival of the first fire engine. There were no issues that had a negative impact containing the fire.”
