Pickerington will be a festive place on Dec. 7 and Dec. 9.
Events kick-off Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. with the Holiday in the Village Shoppe Hop, sponsored by the Olde Pickerington Village Business Association (OPVBA).
Carriage rides through the historic downtown will be offered from 6-9 p.m. The rides are free, but donations will be accepted for the Pickerington Food Pantry.
The Shoppe Hop runs until 9 p.m. and will include the Pickerington tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. in Gazebo Park. Violet Township Trustee Terry Dunlap will speak along with Pickerington Mayor David Shaver. Also, the Pickerington Satellite Choir. comprised of 35 children in grades four through six. will perform.
"A Tuna Christmas"
Pickerington Community Theatre (www.pickeringtoncommunitytheatre.org) will present "A Tuna Christmas," the hit comedy by Joe Sears and Jaston Williams, starring brothers Isaac and Ethan Barton. Performances are on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Dec. 7-16 at the Violet Grange, 36 Lockville Road in Pickerington. Curtain times are Fridays and Saturdays Dec. 7, 8, 14, and 15 @ 8 p.m.; Sundays Dec. 9 and 16 @ 2 p.m. Tickets are $10; $8 for students and seniors. Breakfast with Santa
Tickets for the annual "Breakfast With Santa," co-sponsored by Pickerington Parks and Recreation Department and the Pickerington Senior Center, are available at the parks office, 51 E. Columbus St. The breakfast will be Dec. 8 at the Senior Center, 150 Hereford Drive. Seating times are 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11 a.m.
Other activities include Santa’s Workshop, a craft shop, a bake sale, children’s craft activities, and holiday music. Cost per ticket is $5.
The Parks and Recreation Department is open each workday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, call the Parks office at 614-833-2211, or the Senior Center at 614-837-3020.
Holiday in the Village
From 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 9, the OPVBA will sponsor "Holiday in the Village" with activities for children in addition to shopping for the adults.
Winstead’s Gallery at 27 W. Columbus St. will provide crafts for children including cookie decorating. In the same building, KM Photography will host Santa Claus. If parents wish to purchase a photograph of their child with Santa, packages begin at $5. However, families are under no obligation to buy a package if their child wants to see Santa.
Carolers will stroll the streets, the Kiwanis Club will offer hot apple cider and the Pickerington-Violet Township Historical Society will offer storytelling. Deblin Designs will provide balloon sculptures and Sasha Li will create free hair clips for girls.
Horse drawn sleigh rides will be offered from 1-4 p.m. The rides are free, but donations will be accepted for the Pickerington Food Pantry.
In addition to the downtown activities, the Pickerington Community Chorus will present its holiday concert Dec. 9 from 3-5 p.m. in the Pickerington Central High School auditorium.
