The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding a one-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred at 6:13 p.m. Sept. 20 in Canaan Township in northeast Madison County.
Troopers received a report that a 2017 Harley Davidson Screamin Eagle 110, driven by
Daniel B. Weizenecker, 60, of Plain City, was involved in an injury crash on Amity Pike.
After arriving on scene, troopers discovered that the motorcycle, southwest on Amity Pike,
lost control off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole. Weizenecker, the only
passenger, was subsequently separated from the motorcycle and landed a short distance
from it. Weizenecker was transported to Dublin Methodist Hospital where he succumbed
to his injuries.
Troopers determined that neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors in the crash. Weizenecker was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Madison County Sheriff’s
Office, Pleasant Township Fire & EMS, Ohio Edison and Flynn’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
