The 3rd Annual Madison County Fairgrounds Fall “Fun”raiser will take place Oct. 31 at the fairgrounds in London.
Fun for all ages, the event includes a craft show, as well as a silent auction featuring donations from craft show vendors, local businesses and 4-H clubs.
Camping is available for the nights of Oct. 30-31. Trick-or-treat is slated from 5 to 6 p.m. around the camp area on Halloween night. Participating campers must provide their own candy.
The Posse, a local band, will headline the evening entertainment, playing from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Eby Arena.
New this year, the Madison County Cattlemen’s Association will host a chili cook-off. Aspiring chili champions can enter by texting their name and the word “chili” to (614) 419-8454, then bringing their $20 entry fee and slow cooker full of chili to the Eby Arena by 3 p.m. The public can sample and vote for their favorite chili between 4 and 5 p.m. Prizes are $100 for first place, $75 for second, and $50 for third. Chili will be sold by the bowl after the contest has ended.
An area for kids will be set up in the afternoon in the Della Selsor building. A representative from Ohio Military Kids will lead a service project creating greeting cards for service members overseas.
Throughout the day, cornhole boards will be set up for open play. Cornhole was offered last year, but this year there is no entry fee to participate. A euchre tournament will be conducted similarly, though it will begin later in the evening.
While proceeds from the event will go toward improvements in the fairgrounds equine area, the focus for this year’s fundraiser, or “fun” raiser as organizers like to call it, is more on fun. Many 4-Hers and community members haven’t had time to see each other and socialize since fair week in July.
