Calf gets bath

On the morning of the beef and swine livestock sale, Eli McAlister, 10, gives his feeder calf a good washing. McAlister lives in South Solon, was a Cloverbud, and has been participating in 4-H for two years. He is a member of the Buckeye Rangers.

The Prairie Raiders 4-H Club sings “Put a Little Green in the World” to a packed Della Selsor Building during the July 11 Cloverbud Show-n-Tell. The group had studied how a seed becomes a flower. Cloverbuds are youngsters who are not yet 4-H age.

Putt-putt pointers

Anna Scott gives her grandson, Dario, 5, a few pointers on his golf game. Anna and her husband, Ted, have four granddaughters who showed hogs, lambs and ducks at the Madison County Fair. Anna, Ted and Dario are from Columbus.
