Fair contests: Cook-off, cornhole, euchre, and skillet throw

The fair offers plenty of opportunities for the public to compete in contests, from cornhole and euchre to a cook-off and ladies skillet throw. For more information about any of the following events, contact Judy Gallimore at (740) 506-4025.

Cook-Off
Test your cooking skills against others in a cook-off. The categories are chicken and noodles, casseroles, meatloaf, and any kind of dessert. Sign in and drop off entries at 6 p.m. July 13 in the Coughlin Community Center. The winner of each class receives $100.
Cornhole Tournament

Anyone is welcome to compete in the cornhole tournament scheduled for 6 p.m. July 14 in the horse show arena. Registration is required by 12 p.m. July 13; stop by the fair office on the fairgrounds. The cost to enter is $5 per person. The winning team receives a cash prize.

Euchre Tournament
A euchre tournament will take place at 7 p.m. July 15 in the Della Selsor Building. Registration is required by 12 p.m. July 14; stop by the fair office on the fairgrounds. The cost to enter is $5 per person. The top two scorers win cash prizes.

Ladies Skillet Throw
It’s just what it sounds like. Women ages 16 and older are invited to heave skillets for cash prizes. The contest is set for 5 p.m. July 16. Entrants must register at the fair office by 12 p.m. that day. The entry fee is $3. Age classes are: 16-29, 30-45, 46-64, and 65 and older. Each entrant gets two throws during class competition. The class winners then compete against one another in the finals where each gets another two throws.
