The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Evie Gillilan as London High School’s March Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Evie has a 4.069 grade point average, is ranked sixth in her class, and states her favorite class is Art IV. Evie has been on the Honor Roll for four years. She is a Junior Kiwanian and the winner of the Kurt Lattimer “Best of Show” and “Best Digital” art award.
Evie has five seasons of Fall Guard and six seasons of Winter Guard participation. She has been involved in the theater department this school year, playing the nurse in the fall play, “Romeo and Juliet,” and landed the role of Irene Malloy in the spring musical, “Hello Dolly.”
When asked to name a London City Schools staff member who inspires her, she named high school art teacher Stacy Billiter.
“Mrs. Billiter makes everyone feel welcome and heard in her classroom. She is honest and kind,” Evie said.
About Evie, Billiter said, “Evie is one-of-a-kind. She has a beautiful blend of artistic talents, scholarly achievements, vocal and acting gifts, as well as a laugh that makes everyone smile. She is a hard-worker that knows who she is, knows what she loves, and embraces all of her uniqueness. She’s been such a strong and independent presence in this room. I have enjoyed our time thoroughly.”
Evie plans to attend Kent State University and major in chemistry. She would like to work in a lab some day. Evie is the daughter of Chrystal and Tim Jolliffe of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
