Etna Road Elementary School fifth- graders presented "December ‘Round The World" Dec. 11 for students and parents. The Whitehall students danced and sang their way into the holiday season with selections from many countries, including the traditional German "Pickle in the Tannenbaum" and "Jump at the Sun," a high-spirited number with African music and drums. The show was topped off with "December In America," with the children saluting like little toy soldiers. |
Etna Road Elementary School fifth- grade students performed songs in several languages Dec. 11 for fellow students and parents during their musical "December ‘Round The World."
The musical was written by John Jacobson and Roger Emerson, and directed by Alison McCabe.
There was a bright ambiance throughout the Whitehall school with lively music and dance steps. They sang songs in several languages displaying the community’s diversity.
Audience members joined in singing "Gung Hay Fat Choy," which means "Happy New Year!" in Chinese.
They had fun during "Pickle in the Tannenbaum." The German tradition says that who ever finds the pickle in the Christmas tree gets a reward.
In this case, the youngster was offered a hamburger by another student.
"Jump at the Sun" was a high-spirited number with joyful African music and drums.
The show was topped off with "December In America," with the children saluting like good little toy soldiers.
