What do you think?
Should the caboose be part of Century Village in Grove City? How could the caboose be used? Would visitors like to climb the steps and walk through the caboose? What do you think people would find most interesting? What is the history of the caboose? Have you seen the restored railroad station at Century Village at Fryer Park on Orders Road?
Write an essay and tell the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society your thoughts about the caboose. Those interested can do reading or research about Grove City’s railroad history at www.grovecityohhistory.org.
Ask a grandparent about what they remember about a caboose being the last moving unit on a passing train. Adults can help with research but students should write their own report.
All submitted articles will be included in a historical document about the caboose. The deadline for entries is Jan. 31.
This is open to all students living in the South-Western City Schools District. Mail entries to: Young Historians, Southwest Franklin County Historical Society, 3378-B Park St., Grove City, Ohio 43123 or email grovecityhistory@gmail.com.
