The Madison County Republican Central Committee has appointed Erin Bauer as Madison County Common Pleas clerk of courts.

Bauer replaces Renae Zabloudil who submitted her resignation on Aug. 13 due to relocation outside the county. Zabloudil had served as clerk of courts since 2012.

Bauer will serve out the remainder of Zabloudil’s term which expires on Jan. 5, 2025. She said she plans to run for election in 2024 for the next full term.

Bauer was one of two candidates who submitted letters of interest to the central committee to fill the vacancy. Ashley Cooper was the other candidate. Both attended the committee’s Sept. 5 meeting at which the appointment was made. Bauer received 10 votes; Cooper received five votes. One committee member abstained.

Prior to receiving the appointment, Bauer had worked as a deputy clerk in the clerk of courts office for 13 years.

In her statement to the committee, she said, “I believe with my experience and knowledge of the job, I would make a good candidate for the position. This job has been very special to me, and I’ve enjoyed working here.”

Bauer has lived in Madison County for 24 years. She is a Madison-Plains High School graduate and currently lives in London.
