The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Erica Ren as London High School’s February Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Erica has a 4.545 grade point average, is ranked second in her class and says her favorite class is mathematics. She has been on the Merit Honor Roll for three years, received a Greenhand Degree from FFA and was a junior Kiwanian.
Erica played on the varsity girls’ tennis team for four years and received the CBC Sportsmanship Award twice. She also served on student council for four years, Quick Recall for four years as part of a two-time league champion team, student class officer for three years serving as treasurer, and National Honor Society for two years and as treasurer. Erica is a two-year member of London FFA and a one-year member of the Diversity Club.
When asked to name a school staff person who inspired her, Erica named math teacher Hana Woodson.
“Mrs. Woodson is an inspiration to me. She is an assertive and compassionate teacher that inspires me to be more confident in myself,” she said.
About Erica, Woodson stated, “Erica is a tremendous student and person. Her work ethic and dedication combined with her curiosity, confidence, intelligence, and kindness will allow her to excel in any endeavor. Erica will leave a void upon graduation that will be difficult to fill.”
After graduation, Erica will attend The Ohio State University, majoring in finance. She is the daughter of Li Ren and Ya Xing (Tammy) Guo of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
