Energetic Oak and loving Johnny are available for adoption

(Posted Dec. 2, 2021)

The following are among the pets up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County. If you are interested in adopting a pet, fill out an application online at www.hsmcohio.org or call the shelter at (614) 879-8368.

After being found by a park ranger, Oak arrived at the shelter on Sept. 13. Oak is a handsome guy with unique brindle and white markings. He weighs 55 pounds, is about 3 years old, and belived to be a border collie/German shepherd mix. Oak is a wild man with a heart of gold. He is very active and would thrive best in an active home. He likes going for walks and is working on his leash manners. When he comes out of his kennel, he is a big bundle of excitement at first. Once he gets outside, he settles down and enjoys his time out. He is very food motivated and is learning basic commands.

Oak is not to keen on the shenanigans of other animals, so he will do best in a home where he is the only furbaby (he just wants all of the love for himself). This guy loves his toys and will play his heart out until he is ready for a snooze. He also seems to like puzzle toys in which you can hide treats; he will sniff them out. Because Oak has so much energy, he would need a home with older children who have experience around high-energy dogs. Oak tries his hardest to be a good boy and, with the right family, this boy will shine!

Adoption fees for dogs vary: shelter dogs are $150, prison dogs are $200, puppies are $250, and popular pure-breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again microchip, set of shots, deworming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17. Fees can be paid by cash or credit card.

Johnny arrived at the shelter on June 10, 2021. He has an estimated birthday of April 2021. He spent some time in a foster home so that he could gain confidence and learn to trust humans.

Johnny lives with other cats and dogs and loves them. He loves people, too, and enjoys snuggling up to you for a cozy nap. He is a very sweet and loving cat that cannot wait to find his forever home.

The adoption fee is $80 for kittens up to 6 months old and $60 for cats 7 months and older. It includes: a FeLV/FIV test, spay or neuter, set of shots, deworming, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). Fees can be paid by cash or credit card.
