Denise Brintlinger donated miscellaneous school supplies valued at $100 to Norwood Elementary. A similar cache of supplies valued at $160 was donated to the elementary by Ron Mast. Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church donated art supplies valued at $100.

Caitlin DeLuna and Forrest Trucking donated $100 each to the cafeteria fund for supplies and student accounts. The high school/middle school athletic fund received a $600 donation from Downtown Photography and a $435 donation from Inventory Trading Co.

The Amazon fulfillment center in West Jefferson donated $7,300 worth of personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies to the district through Madison County Public Health. On behalf of the Class of 1988, Gregg Manger donated 130 face masks valued at $10 each to the high school. Linda Collins and Charlotte Manger donated 175 handmade face masks valued at $4 each to the district.

In other action, the board approved the appointment of Cathy Mere to fill the unexpired term of Steven Johnston on Hurt-Battelle Memorial Library’s board of trustees, effective Aug. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2021.
