Dog tags available at many locations around the county

(Posted Dec. 21, 2023)

Madison County Auditor Jennifer Hunter is selling 2024 dog tags through Jan. 31, 2024, at the Madison County Auditor’s Office and several other county locations:

• London–Dwyer’s Hardware, Lake Choctaw Office, and Sheffield Veterinary Hospital;

• West Jefferson–West Jefferson Animal Hospital, West Jefferson Hardware, and Humane Society of Madison County;

• Mount Sterling–Reiterman Feed and Supply; and

• Plain City–Ace Hardware and Plain City Animal Hospital.

A $1 convenience fee is charged at satellite locations. All satellite locations accept cash only, except Reiterman Feed and Supply and Plain City Animal Hospital.

Another option is to purchase tags online at www.doglicenses.us/OH/Madison/.

Dog tags must be purchased annually for all dogs older than three months. The cost is $16 through Jan. 31. Three-year licenses are $40 and permanent licenses are $150; both are available for purchase at the Auditor’s office.

Renewal applications can be handled entirely through the mail. The Auditor’s Office mailed renewal applications in November to last year’s license holders. By verifying renewal information and returning the form, payment, and a self-addressed stamped envelope, owners can receive tags by return mail.

A current dog tag is the easiest method to keep owners and their pets together.

Kennel licenses for professional breeders and hunters may be obtained only at the Auditor’s Office, 1 N. Main St., London, OH 43140.
