District shares its message on the passing of a school board member

Robert Ragland

We learned of the passing of Mr. Robert W. Ragland, Sr., South-Western City School District board of education member.

Among his many contributions to our school community, Mr. Ragland served as the current vice-president of the board and trustee of the Ohio School Boards Association. He also previously served as president of the board, the assistant director of education and the assistant director of diversity and inclusion for Ohio PTA. Mr. Ragland was also actively involved in Franklin Heights High School PTA and band boosters.

Board President Cathy Johnson said, “Robert W. Ragland, Sr. brought a unique perspective to the South-Western City School District board. He was the consummate team player. Mr. Ragland exemplified what a servant leader should be. It was always about what was best for the students in the district. He was humble, so few know what all he did for us during the more than 30 years he was part of the SWCSD family. He will be sorely missed.”

We extend our deepest sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Mr. Ragland.
