Join the city of Grove City throughout July for A Lifetime of Discovery to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month highlighting all the great things to see and do in the community.
Friday, July 6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., kick off National Parks and Recreation Month by exploring Gantz Park, 2255 Home Road. Walk the paths, enjoy the playground, tour Gantz Farmhouse and Barn, and meet the Gardens at Gantz Farm volunteers and Garden Sprouts youth gardening group as they share the improvements they are making to the Gardens at Gantz Park. Cross the bridge to the gazebo at 7 p.m. where the fun heats up with a performance by the Central Ohio Brass Band.
The Grove City Parks and Recreation Department offers opportunities for families to come together and experience a sense of community through programming for all ages, including weekly outdoor activities, special events and tours of historical sites. Regular summer fun includes Theme Thursday activities from noon to 4 p.m. at The Big Splash, 2831 Southwest Blvd.; Thursday outdoor movie series, Fryer Flicks on the Hill, at dusk in Fryer Park, 3899 Orders Road; and on most Fridays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Summer Sizzle Concert Series featuring regional acts performing in the George Edge Music Park on Broadway (at Park Street). Don’t forget to visit one of Grove City’s 21 parks to enjoy active or passive outdoor experiences. Hike and bike miles of paths, fish the ponds, climb on playground equipment and cool off in the new splash pad at Fryer Park.
Throughout the month of July stop by the Evans Center, 4330 Dudley Ave., reflect on Grove City history at the museum, 3378 Park St., or schedule a tour at the Grant-Sawyer Home or the Gardens at Gantz Farms and experience a few of the notable sites in Grove City. From 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 28, the Southwest Franklin County Historical Society hosts an open-house tour of Century Village in Fryer Park.
Come together with family and friends or make new friends as you enjoy all there is to discover through Grove City’s July celebration of Parks and Recreation Month.
