Developmental Disabilities Board’s Cabaret Night back by popular demand

The Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities held its Christmas Cabaret on Dec. 20 at London High School. The event concluded with leading the audience in “White Christmas.”

“We are back.”

Those were the first words from Madison County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) Superintendent Susan Thompson as she welcomed an enthusiastic crowd to the 2021 MCBDD Christmas Cabaret held Dec. 20 in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium at London High School.

The event was back by popular demand. MCBDD’s first Cabaret Night in June 2019 was met with rave reviews. This year, participants performed a variety of well-known and lesser-known Christmas classics, including “White Christmas” with joyful audience participation.

The performers included Lupita Arriaga, Rebecca Bell, Duncan Gholson, Bridgett Gray, Jay Jarvis, Diana Large, Blair Leady, Nancy Manning, Paula Manning, Donnie McGhee, Jonathan Mullins-Kimbler, Penny Powers and Shaundra Sayre.

Jessica Dunham provided accompaniment on piano.

On hand to lend support were former London High School theatre stars Ruth Peart, Aaron Gates,and Luke Peart. Carol Ansel, Blaine Brockman and Susan Thompson also participated.

London High School student Andrew Dunkley and the high school’s theater director, Scott Blanton, handled technical and stage crew duties.
