Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is located at 1775 Darby Creek Dr. in Galloway, four miles off Route 40 just east of West Jefferson. Here is a list of events for August.

•Mussel Beach, Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. -noon – Go knee-deep into the stream to find mussels. Meet at Indian Ridge Bulletin Board.

•Storytelling Campfire, Aug. 9 from 7–9 p.m. – Professional storytellers will weave humorous and inspirational tales as we cozy around the campfire. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Monarch Butterflies, Aug. 10 from 1–3 p.m. – Explore the life cycle of this colorful migratory butterfly. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Preschoolers: Spiders, Aug. 12 at 9:30 or 11 a.m. – Spin your own web and discover more about spiders through games and activities. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.

•Brown Bag Special: Mammals of Ohio, Aug. 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Discover Ohio’s mammals through pelts, skulls, skeletons and scat. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Stream Quality Monitoring Workshop, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to noon – Learn how to become a stream quality monitoring volunteer for the Ohio Division of Natural Areas and Preserves. Meet at Indian Ridge Bulletin Board.

•Full Moon Hike, Aug. 16 from  8:30 to 10:30 p.m. – Enjoy a moderately paced, four-mile hike through the woods and fields. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Family Fun in the Creek, Aug. 17 from 1–3 p.m. – Catch and release aquatic wildlife in Big Darby Creek. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Yoga in the Park, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon – Move with the rhythm of nature and learn yoga techniques to rejuvenate your mind and body from an instructor at Yoga On High. Bring a mat or blanket. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Nocturnal Flyers, Aug. 23 from 8:30–10 p.m. – Venture into the night to study the habits and habitats of bats and moths. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Discover the Insect World, Aug. 24 from 2–3:30 p.m. – Take a close-up look at the insect world. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Preschoolers: Spiders, Aug. 29 at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. – Spin your own web and discover more about spiders through games and activities. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.

•Treeumphant, Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon – Identify trees as we discover their uses, history and lore. Meet at the Naturalist Office.

•Night Hike, Aug. 30 from 8–9:30 p.m. – Search for insects, bats, owls and other critters on a short hike. Meet at Indian Ridge Bulletin Board.

•Ohio Mammals, Aug. 31 from 4–7 p.m. – See skins, scat, skulls and skeletons of Ohio mammals. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
