The third annual Canal Winchester Lions Club Challenge will be Aug. 15 starting and finishing at the Southgate Potter Lodge at 651 Groveport Road. Teams of two (or three, if the third member is under age 14) will decipher clues and race around Canal Winchester to complete challenges in the Lions Club fundraiser. Check-in is at 8 a.m., the race starts at 9 a.m., and finishes at noon with awards at and light refreshments at 12:30 p.m.
This event is modeled after the TV show; the “Amazing Race” and highlights Canal Winchester businesses and landmarks. Participants can choose to compete in either the pedestrian or bicyclist division.
The Lions Club has served the Canal Winchester community for 76 years and uses the money raised in this fundraiser to support service projects such as vision screenings for children and community organizations such as the Boy Scouts and the Canal Winchester Schools, to name a few. CW Lions tackle litter
The Canal Winchester Lions Club took to the streets July 23 to clean up the interchange at U.S. Route 33 and Gender Road. The city of Canal Winchester thanked the Canal Winchester Lions Club for their volunteer efforts.
“The Lions Club was able to gather 24 bags of trash from the interchange location,” said Matt Peoples, Canal Winchester director of public works. “This was a very big help to our mowing crew.”
The Canal Winchester Lions Club has been involved in community beautification and humanitarian projects within the Canal Winchester community since 1939.
