Groveport Madison Cruiser senior running back Jalil Underdown didn’t waste any time getting down to business, breaking free for a 71 yard touchdown run on the first series of downs during the Cruisers’ season opening varsity football game on Aug. 28 at home against Westland. Underdown didn’t stop there, going on to rush for 160 yards and three touchdowns leading Groveport to a 38-0 win over the Cougars.
Groveport senior Elyiah Aekins pulled in 28 yard touchdown pass on the second possession of the game against Westland. The Cruisers scored on their first six possessions to jump out to a 38-0 lead and never looked back.
Having a lot to smile about at the Groveport Madison Cruisers’ 38-0 victory over Westland in the season opener was senior kicker Jeffrey Asamoah. He was able to set a personal best field goal of 52 yards, which is also believed to be a school record. In addition, Foday Camara kicked five extra points.
Jalil Underdown outruns would be Westland tacklers on his way to another long run.
