The Groveport Madison varsity softball team held a #TEAMNESTER game on April 10 vs. Big Walnut at Groveport Elementary that featured Kyle and Madison Nester throwing out the first pitch. The Cruiser softball team is selling #TEAMNESTER t-shirts for $10 and is donating all the proceeds from the sale of the shirts towards helping out Groveport Madison High School students Kyle and Madison Nester. Both parents of Kyle, 18, and Madison, 15, passed away in the past few months. Kyle, who will graduate this June, is seeking legal guardianship of his sister so he can raise her and to enable her to continue to attend Groveport Madison Schools. Email chris.downing@gocruisers.org to order a shirt. Family and friends have also set up GoFundMe accounts to help the Nesters with expenses and education funding. Pictured here is Kyle Nester, with his sister Madison at left, throwing the ceremonial first pitch for the game against Big Walnut, which was won by the Cruisers 6-0 as pitcher Sara Gockenbach pitched a shut out and Gockenbach and White both hit home runs in the game.
Cruiser catcher Jessie Rock hugs Kyle Nester after he threw the first pitch as Madison Nester (left) and Cruiser Coach Chris Downing look on. “We’re a family and we stick together,” said Downing of the Groveport Madison community.
