For the 16th year, the Plain City Classic Car Cruise-In will fill the streets of Plain City with collector cars, trucks, and motorcycles from around the area.
Every year, the cruise-in committee throws in something new. This year, it’s a longer party. The cruise-in runs from 2 to 8 p.m., followed by an after-show concert, all on Aug. 25 and all on Main and Chillicothe streets. Organizers expect over 200 four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles.
With an estimated crowd of over 2,000 eyeing decades of automotive heritage, DJ Mac Thomas will spin classic tunes, and local band, The Groove, will play live from 4 to 7. The awards will be presented, then the party keeps going. The Cruise-In Concert After Show features Terry Davidson & The Gears starting at 8 p.m.
All of the old car show staples remain. The first 100 entries receive goody bags, and the first 150 entries receive dash plaques. Returning are the 50/50 raffle and prize raffles. Among the prizes are televisions and children’s bicycles.
The hungry crowd can enjoy cuisine from nine food trucks and trailers, including Skyward Grill, Dan’s Deli, Pitabilities, and Miller’s Olde Fashioned Ice Cream. The event also features a wine and beer garden.
Award categories are: Top 40, Entrants’ Choice, People’s Choice, UPCO (Uptown Plain City Organization) Choice, and Best of Show. All vehicles are welcome. As is tradition, some awards are handmade by local talent.
Registration runs from 2 to 5 p.m. the day of the show with a fee of $13. To save a few bucks, register in advance for $10. Online registration can be found at www.uptownplaincity.com and ends Aug. 23 at 11:59 p.m. Registration forms can be printed and mailed in advance or completed and brought to the registration desk the day of the event before 5 p.m. All mailed entries must be postmarked by Aug. 22.
For spectators, admission to the car show and concert is free. All visitors, registrants and spectators are eligible to enter the raffle drawings. The drawings will be complete by 7 p.m.
