The Mount Sterling Community Days festival offers several contests, all of which are taking place on June 30. For details, go to http://mountsterlingcc.org/
Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Contest—Open to boys and girls ages 5-10 years old. Registration begins at noon June 30 at the Community Center. Judging is at 1 p.m. The entry fee is a requested $5 donation. Entrants are asked to wear patriotic apparel. All contestants are invited to ride in the parade at 5 p.m. Contact Lisa at (614) 778-2480.
Baking Contest—Submit entries between 9 and 10 a.m. June 30. Judging is at 10 a.m. Winners will be announced at 7 p.m. The entry fee is a requested $5 donation; one donation covers all entries. Categories: cake, pie, cookies, bread, decorated cake. Items must be home-baked.
Quilt Show—The show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 30 and includes and adult and youth divisions. The entry fee is a requested $5 donation. Drop off entries at the Community Center on June 29, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., or June 30, 9-10 a.m. Show visitors can vote for their favorite quilt and enter a drawing for sewn and quilted items. People’s Choice winners and drawing winners will be announced at 7 p.m. June 30 at the Veterans Field stage. A twin-size coverlet made by the center’s Sew Social quilters will be up for silent auction during the show.
Car Show—Registration starts at 10 a.m. June 30 at the Dairy Freeze, 85 N. London St. The entry fee is $10 per vehicle. Categories: muscle, classic, streetrod, modified, sports. A 50/50 raffle, door prizes and DJ are planned. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bicycle Decorating Contest—Registration is at 3:30 p.m. June 30, followed by judging at 4 p.m. Age categories are 2-5 years old for tricycles, 6-9 and 10-12 years old for bicycles. Contestants are invited to ride in the parade at 5 p.m.
Parade—Submit entry forms by 4 p.m. June 30. Line-up starts at 4 p.m. on New Street. The parade steps off at 5. The route follows New Street to Main Street to Clevenger Avenue to Columbus Street to John Street, ending at the Community Center. Prize categories: most creative, best agricultural, most patriotic, spirit award.
