Central Crossing High School senior Jamie Ramirez won all five of his matches to take the 150-pound crown at the 10th Annual Comet Classic, held at Central Crossing on Jan. 7. Shown here, Ramirez is on his way to a 45-second pin over Taylor Turner of Logan. Jamie Ramirez was joined in the Comet Classic by his brothers, Jacob, who is a freshman, and Josh, a sophomore. There were 18 teams competing in the event.
Central Crossing’s Brandon Sheets faced off against Landon Levalley of Elgin in round two of the 10th Annual Comet Classic. Sheets won with a first period pin and went on to a second place finish in the tournament. He won four of his five matches and his 24 team points helped Central Crossing to a second place finish.
Central Crossing freshman Jacob Ramirez and Dominic Renda of Franklin Heights met up in the first round of the 144-pound class at the Comet Classic. Ramirez got off to a good start with a pin in the first period, and went on to place second in the tournament.
