Columbus Symphony’s strings will perform in London

As part of their Summer Night Music Concert Series, the string section of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will perform at 7:30 p.m. June 30 at First United Methodist Church of London, 52 N. Main St.

This marks the first time any group from CSO has performed in London. The program includes: Mendelssohn’s “String Symphony No. 1,” which he wrote when he was 12 years old, Tchaikovsky’s “Souvenir de Florence,” a masterwork for string sextet; and Peck’s “Signs of Life II: Movement 3, Scherzo.” Joanna Frankel is the concertmaster/conductor.

Tickets for the concert are $25 for adults and $10 for children. They can be purchased by calling (614) 469-0939 or by visiting www.londonfumc.org, clicking on “News & Events,” and following the links to the Symphony’s ticket order page.

Additionally, the church is partnering with The Butcher Block restaurant to offer a pre-fixe dinner prior to the show at 5 p.m. at the restaurant, 2280 State Rte. 56, London. The dinner costs $35 per person and includes a choice between a steak dinner or salmon dinner.
