Coaches announce All-Madison County basketball honorees

Girls’ and boys’ high school basketball coaches in Madison County have revived the tradition of honoring the county’s top 10 players for boys and girls in a season, along with naming players of the year.

Cody Sarensen, varsity boys’ basketball coach at London High School, estimates it has been about 10 years since the honors were last bestowed.

“We decided to bring it back to help recognize and highlight our student-athletes in Madison County,” Sarensen said.

Coaches from Jonathan Alder, London, Madison-Plains, Shekinah Christian, and West Jefferson cast votes to determine the winners.

The 2023-24 All-Madison County Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year is Evan Platfoot from Jonathan Alder High School. The 2023-24 All-Madison County Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year is Zach Jones from London High School.

The 2023-24 All-Madison County Girls’ Basketball Team includes:
Evan Platfoot–Jonathan Alder;
Natalie Walker–Jonathan Alder;
Addison Lambert–London;
Kassie Patterson–London;
Addison Sims–London;
Claire Mason–Madison-Plains;
Mackenzie Reeves–Madison-Plains;
Kenzie Vallery–Madison-Plains;
Haylee Beachy–Shekinah Christian; and
Zoey Brown–West Jefferson.

The 2023-24 All-Madison County Boys’ Basketball Team includes:
Noah Hess–Jonathan Alder;
Peyton Heiss–Jonathan Alder;
Ryan Mark–Jonathan Alder;
Zach Jones–London;
Colin Nickell–London;
June Turner–London;
Josh Long–Madison Plains;
Logan Walters–Madison Plains;
Alex Bauermeister–Shekinah Christian; and
Austin Buescher–West Jefferson.
