The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will present performances at 2 and 4:30 p.m. May 5 on the Mount Sterling Community Center grounds.
Between 9:30 and 10 a.m., the public can watch the raising of the big top and take a free tour. Meet the performers and learn about the show’s history and the animals. Tour guides also will talk about hygiene, grooming and veterinary care of the animals.
The shows at 2 and 4:30 p.m. are 90 minutes each. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors (65 and older) and children ages 2-12; children younger than 2 are admitted at no charge. Advance tickets are available at the Mount Sterling Community Center, Sterling Pharmacy, Mount Sterling Public Library and Milton Bank.
Tickets the day of the show are $13 for adults and $8 for seniors and children. The midway box office opens at 1 p.m. Pony rides, a moonbounce, concessions and other entertainment are planned.
The show’s stars include Miss Simone and her breathtaking single trapeze, Miss Paulina’s proud “big and little” prancing ponies, the Arlise Troupe on their wild and crazy unicycles, Natalie’s American Eskimo Escapades, Miss Georgia displaying flexibilityto the extreme, and, for the first time, the Wheel of Destiny & Tight Rope by the Pereze Family.
Also featured are the performing jungle cats, Soloman, Delilah and Francis, presented by Trey Key. Original music composed by Matt Margucci out of Los Angeles, Calif., accompanies the acts.
