Escape from the hustle and bustle of the season and bring history to life with new holiday traditions.
The Southwest Franklin County Historical Society and the city of Grove City invite you to celebrate an evening of old-style holiday fun at the Century Village Open House and Christmas Trolley Tour from 4 to 8 p.m., Dec. 12.
Stop by Century Village on your own, 3899 Orders Road, or ride on a trolley from the Grove City Museum to Century Village and back, driving past decorated houses along Park Street and by the Grant Homestead. Century Village offers a charming Christmas experience complete with the historical buildings adorned with traditional decorations and music, wassail and cookies, and visits with Saint Nick. View a holiday display featuring items from Grove City’s past including a festive model train village at the Museum and Welcome Center, 3378 Park St.
Tours are free, but donations to the Grove City Food Pantry of non-perishable food items are encouraged.
While you’re enjoying the Christmas lights in Town Center, stop by to see Santa in Town Center at Treehouse Play Cafe, 3455 Grove City Road, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Déjà vu Boutique, 3952 Broadway, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The city continues its Christmas tribute to the Nutcracker with an animated window display reminiscent of retail displays from the 1950s that depicts fanciful scenes from the classic tale of Clara and the battle between her beloved Nutcracker and the Mouse King at City Hall, 4035 Broadway. The display is open Monday through Friday, 4 to 10 p.m., and noon to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
