The Grove City community is invited to celebrate a full day of holiday spirit at the Grove City Christmas Celebration, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5 in historic Town Center. Activities are sponsored by the city of Grove City, the Grove City Town Center Inc. and others. Don’t miss shopping, visits with Santa, live entertainment, a parade and much more.

From 2 to 7 p.m. in the George Edge Music Park on Broadway, children can meet Santa and parents can take their own photo or receive one for a $5 contribution to T.W.I.G. 184 benefiting Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Donations of money, food or personal hygiene products for the Grove City Food Pantry and of toys and gift cards for the Jackson Township Firefighters for Kids holiday toy program also are accepted on the plaza. Local choirs perform on stage on Park Street west of Broadway starting at 5:30 p.m.

Shop for unique, creative, one-of-a-kind gift items, decorations, artwork and delicious treats to enjoy yourself or share with others while strolling through festive market spaces. Included in the Mistletoe Market is a Secret Santa shop located in the Grove City Museum for children to purchase gifts to present anonymously to loved ones playing upon a tradition of giving celebrated around the world. Vendors offer holiday crafts for sale throughout historic Grove City Town Center. The Mistletoe Market is located inside City Hall and various Town Center businesses. A map of Mistletoe Market locations is available on the Grove City Town Center at website grovecitytowncenter.org.

From 6 to 8 p.m., view an ice sculptor transforming a block of ice into a holiday icon and reindeer at the southeast corner of Civic Place and Broadway. The city continues its Christmas tribute to the Nutcracker with an animated window display reminiscent of retail displays from the 1950s that depicts fanciful scenes from the classic tale of Clara and the battle between her beloved Nutcracker and the Mouse King at City Hall, 4035 Broadway. The display is open Monday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The Grove City Community parade steps off at 7 p.m. after the parade wraps up, Santa returns to help Mayor Richard L. “Ike” Stage and city council members light the community tree in the George Edge Music Park on Broadway.
