The Westland Area Business Association hosted its annual Independence Day Parade and Celebration on June 25. For close to an hour, dozens of businesses, high school marching bands, dance companies and public safety organizations brought laughter, smiles and thousands of pieces of candy to the masses who lined up along West Broad Street to see the popular event on the city’s westside.
Friends Kaylee Fuller, Tiffany Arguello, and Mykia Canady (pictured from left to right) eagerly await the start of the parade.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard participated in the festivities.
Leon Johnson, 4, takes a quick rest on the median after spending more than a half-an-hour racing across the street to pick up sweets with his siblings.
The Westland High School mascot made an appearance at the parade.
