The Madison Classic Car Show, which debuted last year in West Jefferson, will not be back this summer.
At the July 12 West Jefferson Business Council meeting, car show committee members said they need more time to research ways to put on a large car show that would attract local and regional car enthusiasts and bring shopping dollars to the village.
Business council member Joan Denes said a “bigger and better’’ show is tentatively planned for the summer of 2009.
In other business, committee members in charge of the new West Jefferson farmer’s market said July got off to a good start with vendors and shoppers. The market is held on Saturday mornings in the parking lot of the former Cardinal grocery store on Main Street.
Vendor space in the market is available for anyone with something to sell. Booth space is free to vendors offering something “home grown, home baked or home made.’’ Vendors of commercialized products, grown or made outside their farm or home, pay $5 per space. Vendors are encouraged to reserve a market space by calling Jerry Ramage at 614-879-8717.
The next meeting of the West Jefferson Business Council will be held at 9 a.m. on Aug. 9 at Hurt-Battelle Memorial Library in West Jefferson.
