Canal Winchester’s Christmas in the Village

Christmas in the Village kicks off the holiday season in downtown Canal Winchester on Dec. 1 from 6-9 p.m. and Dec. 2 from 5-8 p.m.

Christmas in the Village will feature Santa visits, a model train display, ice sculpting, kids’ activities, a gingerbread house contest, a chance to Meet the Grinch, and more. Santa Claus will arrive downtown to start each night with a Christmas tree lighting. Visit, for Santa’s route each night as well as information about the Dec. 1 Brockstrong Light up the Night Holiday Lights parade.

New this year, a “Christmas Trolley” will make its way through downtown during Christmas in the Village, making stops on South High Street, at the Frances Steube Community Center, and at the Railroad Depot. Some of Santa’s reindeer will also make an appearance at Stradley Park on Dec. 2.

Activities both nights: tree lighting 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 5 p.m. Dec. 2 in the grassy area behind Stradley Place; visit Santa in the Huntington Bank; cookies cardmaking, Faith United Methodist Church – 15 W. Columbus St.; children’s games at Chase Bank; children’s train rides, across from Fantasy Cupcake; hayrides, in front of municipal building; meet Ginger & Gingy / Gingerbread House Contest, HER Realtors – 11 S. High St.; children’s crafts in Town Hall. pet pictures with Santa at M. Vasko office, 19 N. High St., $10 donation suggested; meet the Grinch (HER Realtors – 25 N. High St.; ice sculptures and popcorn station at Stradley Place; Christmas music on S. High St.; craft Bazaar and train display at Community Center; Canal Winchester Area Historical Society’s Prentiss School and Railroad Depot on North High Street open to visitors.

Activities one night only: Dec. 1 – Brockstrong Holiday Lights Parade with Santa (begins at 5:30 p.m. with Santa arriving downtown at 6 p.m.); Dec. 1- Christmas carols by CWHS Choir (Stradley Place); Dec. 2 – Santa Procession (begins at 4:30 p.m. with Santa arriving downtown at 5 p.m.; Dec. 2 – Winchester Chimes Holiday Performance (Prentiss School and Railroad Depot – North High Street; Dec. 2- Visit Santa’s reindeer (grassy area behind Stradley Place).
