CW takes ownership of Union Grove Cemetery
Following the recent dissolution of the Union Grove Cemetery Association, Union Grove Cemetery ownership was transferred to the City of Canal Winchester.
The grounds, located at 400 Winchester Cemetery Road, sit behind The Arlington Field of Honor and mausoleum.
“Union Grove has been the final resting place to many historic figures from the Canal Winchester community, and the city is committed to continuing the legacy of the cemetery,” said Matt Peoples, Canal Winchester director of public service. “Because we did not have experience in cemetery management and we wanted a smooth transition, we made efforts to hire professionals to care for the property.”
Oak Leaf Management Company, a sister company of Day Funeral Services, will maintain the property and manage all details regarding burials and grounds keeping.
“Cemetery management is a natural extension of our funeral services,” said Richard Day of Oak Leaf Management Company. “There is room for expansion, and we will continue to offer traditional burials and other services.”
Cemetery office hours are Wednesday through Friday from 1-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To contact cemetery management, call (614) 837-7418.
