The Grove City Friends of the Skate Park will hold a skateboarding competition on Oct. 4 at the Grove City Skate Park.
Proceeds from the competition will help pay for skate park maintenance and improvements as well as provide funds for future events.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and is $10. The competition begins at 11 a.m. Participants will compete in one of three divisions: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The street and bowl divisions will be judged by a panel of experienced skateboarders and prizes will be awarded to the top three places in these divisions. All participants in the beginner division will receive a prize.
A raffle featuring skate decks, trucks, wheels, a wave board, rollerblades, a Flip video camera, T-shirts, gift certificates and more will also be held.
Skaters of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. The event is expected to attract skaters from across Ohio.
The Grove City Skate Park will be closed to non-participants for the duration of the competition.
In case of inclement weather, the contest will be held on Oct. 5.
