The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Cainan Kelly as Madison-Plains High School’s October Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Cainan has a 3.892 grade point average, ranking him fifth in his class. His favorite course is CCP English composition. Cainan has been on the football team for four years, and this year he is a team captain. He has been on the track team for four years and the powerlifting team for three years. He has been a member of National Honor Society for three years and is currently serving as chapter president.
Cainan has been a member of FFA for four years and a member of the yearbook staff for two years, serving this year as the yearbook staff’s co-chief. Additionally, he has been on student council for two years. He served last year as the junior class’s sergeant-at-arms. This year, he is senior class vice president.
When asked to name a school staff member who inspires him, Cainan named Joan Boyle, health and physical education teacher and coach.
“She has always brought out the best in me and everyone around. She wants the best for everyone and wants everyone to be successful. She has also taught me to never give up and seek the good side in every situation.”
About Cainan, Boyle said, “Cainan is positive and energetic with an infectious smile. He is a caring individual who excels in his academics and athletics. Students respect Cainan because he leads by example, has a positive attitude, and has a keen sense for helping his peers. The perfect example of these qualities was when Cainan was injured last year during track season. He was always there for his teammates, supporting them, giving them advice, and giving them that pep talk they may need before the next event.
“Cainan is one of the best student representatives Madison-Plains has to offer and is exactly what the London Rotary Club is looking for in our young people today.”
After graduation, Cainan plans to attend Ohio University and major in pre-medicine. He is the son of Amanda and Richie Kelly.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
