The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Brooklyn Sims as London High School’s November Student of the Month.

Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.

Brooklyn has a 4.22 grade point average, is ranked ninth in her class and states her favorite class is Spanish. She has played varsity volleyball for three years and was a captain this year. The team was district runner-up this season. Brooklyn also has been a member of the track team since 2019 and served as captain in 2019 and 2021. She was a district champion in the high jump in 2019.

Brooklyn has been a member of National Honor Society since 2020 and is on student council this school year. She has been an FFA member since 2018 and has earned Greenhand and chapter degrees.

When asked to name a school staff person who inspires her, Brookyln named Spanish teacher Roy Greenlee.

“Profe. Greenlee values each student and does everything he can to ensure that everyone is successful,” she said.

About Brooklyn, Greenlee said, “Brooklyn Sims is an exceptional student both inside and out of the classroom. She spends any opportunity to practice Spanish in order to improve her ability, as well as assists other students. This has helped her become a leader within the classroom and to her peers.

“Her motivation to exceed academically has followed her throughout her high school career. After speaking with Brooklyn about her future plans, she was highly motivated to participate in an internship program through our middle school. I am very proud to have had the ability to teach Brooklyn and am excited to see where her career takes her.”

After graduation, Brooklyn plans to attend a university to earn a bachelor’s degree in middle childhood education and eventually obtain a master’s degree. Brooklyn is the daughter of Scott and Julia Sims of London.

The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
