Bourbon afficionados will want to grab their calendars.
Grove City Town Center once again will host its popular annual Bourbon Tasting Aug. 11.
The event serves as an opportunity for those who want to sample a variety of bourbons – perfect for those who love the type of whiskey, as well as for those who are bourbon-tasting beginners.
“This year we currently have 45 (different bourbons) and working on three more,” said Andrew Furr, executive director of Grove City Town Center Inc.
For $20, each attendee receives eight tickets and a glass.
“Most bourbons are one ticket, but some require more than one ticket to sample,” Furr said.
Extra tickets are available for $10 for four tickets.
“We will have information on each of the bourbons so that the attendee can pick which ones to sample,” he said.
Now in its fifth year, the event continues to grow. Last year’s tasting drew 7,500 people to downtown Grove City.
“Our organization is devoted to the awareness and promotion of the businesses in the Town Center,” Furr said. “So when we think of events to have and draw people to the town center, we first discuss how it can benefit the businesses in the town center.”
During its first year, the tasting was held next to Plum Run Winery, but as it grew, organizers moved the event to its current venue along Park Street downtown.
In addition to sampling various bourbons, attendees also will have the opportunity to visit multiple food vendors and learn more about cigars from Burning Leaf Fine Cigars, a Columbus-based business.
The tasting will run from 1 to 10 p.m. Public parking is available in various areas surrounding the venue. Entertainment will showcase two bands that evening – The Boondogglers from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and American Vinyl from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
