Body found in sewage tank in South Solon

On Nov. 20, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office was called to the water treatment plant in the village of South Solon on a report of a human body in a sewage tank.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a white male at the bottom of a drained sewage tank. Investigators and the Madison County coroner were called to the scene. Central Townships Joint Fire District and the London Fire Department provided assistance with recovering the body.

The deceased has been identified as James Burl Powers, a 34-year-old white male from South Solon. The deceased was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
