Groveport’s new bicycle path, known as the Foor Leisure Path, officially opened with a ceremony on Oct. 18. The 7,000 foot paved path extends north from Groveport’s Front Street to tie into the Three Creeks Metro Park bicycle path. At the ribbon cutting ceremony Oct. 18, EMH&T engineer Steve Farst said the new path is an important link in the bikeway system and that the path "integrates well into the landscape." Of special note, said Farst, is that the path passes by "a beautiful wetlands area, one of the most precious wetlands in Franklin County." Part of the path crosses land once farmed by Dan Foor, pictured here with his friend Carol German setting off for a ride on the path. "The Foors have been here 84 years and I hope people can enjoy this path 10 times that many years," said Foor. "The bicycle is a wonderful machine and I encourage people to try it." |
