The 11th Annual London Strawberry Festival Bicycle Tour will take place June 7. (The actual Strawberry Festival is June 19-21 in downtown London.)
The tour consists of four different routes: a 21-mile, 44-mile, 61-mile, and a 107-mile century ride option. All rides kick off between 6:30 and 8 a.m. from the Prairie Grass trailhead behind the Madison County Senior Citizens Center, 280 W. High St., London. The courses wind through Madison, Clark, Fayette and Greene counties.
The 21-mile route is solely on the Prairie Grass Trail and includes one rest stop at the turn-around point in South Charleston. The 44-mile, 61-mile and 107-mile routes include rest stops in Jamestown and South Charleston and feature some mileage on the Prairie Grass Trail. All riders will also have the option of riding the entire tour on the Prairie Grass Trail of any distance they choose.
The $25 registration fee includes detailed tour maps, identification number, support services, food stops and a membership to the Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails. Food items provided at rest stops include granola bars, fresh fruit, water and sports drinks. The 61-mile and 107-mile routes pass through small communities where facilities and items are available for purchase. The Friends of Madison County Parks and Trails will sell t-shirts available the day of the tour for $15.
