The city does not have a full supply of salt for the winter, thanks to extremely high prices for salt.
Service Director Bill Harvey said the price was nearly three times the usual cost, and he didn¹t want to purchase it at that price.
"I just decided it wouldn¹t be best for the community," he said, and added that they were looking at alternatives like brine and pre-treating the roads.
If the city can¹t purchase more, the city may have to use salt only on intersections and main roads during storms. The council will discuss the issue further in the future.
