The youth of Grove City are heading back to the diamonds as practice began July 13. The season, which officially begins Saturday, Aug. 8, will follow the format of the traditional spring-summer season. Games will be played in August, September and October at Windsor Park, 4408 Broadway, and Fryer Park, 3899 Orders Road. Grove City Buddy Ball at the Dream Field has been postponed until 2021.
In addition to the change in dates, several modifications are being implemented to enhance the safety of participants and the community. These measures include additional cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, ensuring individual usage of items and appropriate distancing of participants when possible.
Volunteer coaches are the backbone of youth baseball in Grove City, and Grove City Parks and Recreation is grateful for their commitment to the community’s children through their willingness to take on the additional responsibilities placed on them for the 2020 season.
“The patience and flexibility players, parents and coaches displayed as plans were prepared to ensure youth baseball in Grove City occurred in 2020 is truly appreciated,” said Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage.
