At 6 p.m. Aug.17, London High School will participate in a football jamboree at Jonathan Alder High School.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) allows schools to participate in a jamboree during one of the final three days of two-a-day practices. The event serves as a “dress rehearsal” for the upcoming regular season. The game is played in the same format as a regular season contest.
As part of participating in the jamboree, competing schools must pay $250 into OHSAA’s Catastrophic Insurance Fund. OHSAA insures every junior and senior high athlete for a catastrophic injury, one in which medical bills exceed $25,000. OHSAA-provided insurance has assisted injured players and families with medical expenses, home remodeling, education, and other rehabilitation measures.
The annual insurance premium to OHSAA exceeds $600,000. OHSAA member schools pay no membership fee and no insurance fee.
Admission to the London vs. Jonathan Alder jamboree is $4 for adults and $2 for students.
