Arts Guild and library holding recycled art contests

The London Visual Arts Guild and the London Public Library are each holding their own art contests. Both require entries to incorporate recycled materials. The contests are open to the public.

Submissions from both shows will be displayed together at the London Arts Center. Winners for each contest will be announced at a combined opening reception set for 2-4 p.m. April 6 at the arts center, 121 E. First St.

Arts Guild Contest
“Everything Old is New Again” is the title of the 9th Annual Community Art Show to be held April 4-May 19 at the London Arts Center, 121 E. First St.

The London Visual Arts Guild invites the public to submit entries for this show. The guild is accepting drawings, paintings, photographs, mixed media, and hand-crafted submissions. Entries should incorporate recycled materials. Prizes will be awarded in youth (ages 6-16) and adult categories.

Applications are available at London Public Library, Yesterday’s Ewes, Relevant Co., The Paper Boutique, and the London Arts Center. Entries can be dropped off at the center between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 23 and March 27.

Arts center hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Open studio hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays. The center is open to the public and admission is free.

Library Contest
London Public Library’s “Recycled Art Contest” is open to all ages. Entries must be dropped off at the library by March 29. Prizes will be awarded in three age groups: children, teens, and adults. Entries will be displayed at the London Arts Center for a time, then displayed at the library. For more information, call the library at (740) 852-9543.
