Red Cross blood drives

The Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 121 W. Mulberry St., in Lancaster, will hold the following blood drives (for information call (740) 687-5585):

•April 5 – Bloodmobile at Pope John XXIII Parish, 5170 Winchester Southern Road, Canal Winchester, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone 614-920-1563 for appointment; walk-ins are welcome.  

Blood needed

Recent winter weather has caused the community blood supply to reach critically low levels. Supplies of key blood types have reached critical levels. Volunteers are needed now to replenish the supply. To donate blood, contact 740-687-5585 to locate a blood drive near you.

Activities at the Pickerington Public Library, 201 Opportunity Way (see www.pickeringtonlibrary.org for information):

•March 30 – Musical Interludes with Avalon Nine the acoustic duo of Linda Blaine and Dave Clutter will perform "A Garden of Love Songs."

VTWL style show

The Violet Township Women’s League (VTWL) will host its ninth annual style show and luncheon on April 19 at Tall Timbers Banquet and Conference Center in Reynoldsburg. "Godspell" opens April 4

Pickerington Community Theatre will present "Godspell," which opens on April 4. Tickets can be purchased at the door or placed in will call by calling Mel Spring at 614-863-1861. Auditions

Pickerington Community Theatre’s production of "The Velveteen Rabbit" will hold auditions on May 2 at 7 p.m. and May 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Call backs and casting will take place May 4 at 2 p.m. A large cast of 18 to 20 is needed and the age group will range from 7 to 19. The play will run from open Aug. 22-31 for two weekends.For information visit www.pickeringtoncommunitytheatre.org

Spaghetti dinner

The Friendly Ties Square Dance Club will hold a spaghetti dinner on April 10 from 5-7 p.m. at the Pickerington Senior Center, 150 Hereford Drive. Cost is $6.50 adults and $3.50 for children. Proceeds benefit the Pickerington Senior Center.

Carter Scholarship fund

The family of Linda Carter presented a check for $10,500 to the Pickerington Education Foundation to establish the Linda Carter Scholarship Fund. Carter was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Hill Road on March 15, 2007. Her family started a fund at the local Fairfield Federal Bank for contributions in lieu of flowers and wishes to thank everyone for their overwhelming generosity. Plans are to award a $2,500 scholarship for the next four years and the remainder to be used for educational grants. Contributions to the fund can be made by contacting the Pickerington Education Foundation at (614) 833-2110.

Lions open house

The Pickerington Lions Club will hold a "Membership Open House" on March 27,  at 7 p.m. at the Pickerington Senior Center, 150 Hereford Drive. Desserts, coffee and other beverages will be served. The public is invited and there is no cost to attend.  The Pickerington Lions Club was founded in 1946 and is a part of Lions International, the largest service organization in the world.  Its main focus is to help find a cure for the many causes of blindness and to support those with sight-impairment problems.
