Red Cross blood drives
The Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 121 W. Mulberry St., in Lancaster, will hold the following blood drives (for information call (740) 687-5585):
•April 5 – Bloodmobile at Pope John XXIII Parish, 5170 Winchester Southern Road, Canal Winchester, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone 614-920-1563 for appointment; walk-ins are welcome.
Blood needed
Recent winter weather has caused the community blood supply to reach critically low levels. Supplies of key blood types have reached critical levels. Volunteers are needed now to replenish the supply. To donate blood, contact 740-687-5585 to locate a blood drive near you.

•P.T. Reptiles Program on April 3 at 7 p.m. For children of all ages.
•Go Green at your library on April 26 at 2 p.m. Get tips on recycling, reducing and reusing to help our planet.
•Dangerous Young Boys Club on April 20 at 2 p.m. This club is open to all boys grades 1-6. The activities are based on the best selling book, "The Dangerous Book for Boys" and are co-hosted by the Pickerington Public Library and Barnes & Noble Pickerington. Call to register (614) 837-4104 ext. 280.
•PPL Book Club – Meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. The book for April will be "March," by Geraldine Brooks, and the book for May will be "The Reader," by Bernhard Schlink.
•Stitch & Chat – Meets every third Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. Bring your art or craft – knitting, drawing, scrap booking, etc. – and share ideas with others, as you work on your project.
•Sawtooth Sisters – Join the "Sawtooth Sisters" anytime between 6-8 p.m. every third Thursday of the month. Bring whatever sewing supplies and equipment you’ll need–whether needle & thread or your sewing machine.

VTWL style show
The Violet Township Women’s League (VTWL) will host its ninth annual style show and luncheon on April 19 at Tall Timbers Banquet and Conference Center in Reynoldsburg. "Godspell" opens April 4
Pickerington Community Theatre will present "Godspell," which opens on April 4. Tickets can be purchased at the door or placed in will call by calling Mel Spring at 614-863-1861. Auditions
Pickerington Community Theatre’s production of "The Velveteen Rabbit" will hold auditions on May 2 at 7 p.m. and May 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Call backs and casting will take place May 4 at 2 p.m. A large cast of 18 to 20 is needed and the age group will range from 7 to 19. Spaghetti dinner
The Friendly Ties Square Dance Club will hold a spaghetti dinner on April 10 from 5-7 p.m. at the Pickerington Senior Center, 150 Hereford Drive. Cost is $6.50 adults and $3.50 for children. Proceeds benefit the Pickerington Senior Center.
Violet Twp. to form
park advisory committee
In response to a recent survey of Violet Township residents, the Violet Township trustees are organizing a park advisory committee.
The trustees invite citizens of the township including Pickerington, to participate on the committee and to attend a meeting about the committee on April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Violet Township meeting room, 12970 Rustic Drive, Pickerington.
The task of the group will be to study the advantages and disadvantages of forming a joint park district with the city of Pickerington, park land preservation, and green space initiatives.
Township officials state that residents have said park land and green spaces are important to the quality of life and for preserving the rural feel of the township. In order to provide ongoing programs and to expand the recreational opportunities, the trustees are requesting citizen involvement to develop a suggested plan for future generations.

Pickerington Central High School’s boys and girls tennis teams will hold a "giant parking lot sale" yard sale type fund raiser on May 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot at the corner of Hill Road and Opportunity Way across from the Pickerington Library. "A Year of Fear"
It has been 30 years since the brutal .22 caliber killings shocked Fairfield County and surrounding areas.
Bill Queen, one of the detectives who worked on the .22 caliber killings and the author of "A Year of Fear," will discuss the events surrounding this historic time at the Pickerington-Violet Township Historical Society on April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the society’s museum, located at the corner of Columbus Street and Lockville Road in historic downtown Pickerington. Admission is free.

The Fairfield County Housing Coalition will host a meeting on April 10, from 9-11 a.m. in the Community Room at the Fountain Square Building, 111 S. Broad Street, Lancaster, regarding a volunteer group of concerned and proactive community leaders supporting foreclosure intervention in Fairfield County.
