Groveport Senior Center
The Groveport Senior Center, located in the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road, offers the following:
•Mondays -play bridge at 11:30 a.m. or progressive euchre at 12:30 p.m.
•Tuesdays – double deck pinochle at 12:30 p.m.
•Wednesdays – all – noon: poker, quilting;  5 p.m.: double deck pinochle; fourth Wednesday – 10 a.m. – Super Game Day.
•Thursdays – all – 9:30 a.m. – crafts; 11:45 a.m. – lunch; first Thursday, 10 a.m. – Game Day; 12:30 p.m. – hand & foot; second Thursday – 9 a.m. to noon – county nurse; 12:30 p.m. – business meeting; 1 p.m. – hand & foot; third Thursday, 12:30 p.m. – cash bingo, hand & foot following bingo; fourth Thursday, 12:30 p.m. – euchre, hand & foot.
•Fridays offer bowling at Eastland Lanes at  9 a.m. and poker at 6 p.m.
•Saturdays progressive euchre at 6 p.m.
•Sundays are to just come in and relax.

Heritage Nature Center
The following programs are offered at the Heritage Nature Center at the log house in Heritage Park on Wirt Road in Groveport. Programs are free and open to children of all ages unless otherwise specified. For information call 836-3333. 
•Jan. 10 at 10 a.m.. – Winter Crafts – Enjoy a morning of winter craft projects.
•Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. – Home Schoolers Ecosystems – Discover ecosystem components and how they work together through hands-on activities and experiments. Ages 8 and up.
•Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. – Cold Weather Candle Making – Make ice candles or snow candles depending on the weather.
•Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. – Snow Day – Enjoy snow day fun with games, stories, and crafts.
•Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. – Snug as a Bug Bingo – Play "bug Bingo" to learn fun facts about insects and try to win prizes.
•Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. – Winter Wildlife – Learn how wild animals survive winter using hibernation, migration and adaptation.
•Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. – Wildlife Tracking – Learn about animal tracking.

Groveport Garden Club
The Groveport Garden Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Groveport Zion Lutheran Church, 6014 Groveport Road, Groveport. The club welcomes anyone interested in gardening. For information call Virginia Myers, 836-5456.
 
Ghost Hunting 101
Ghost Research and Verification Experiment (GRAVE) will discuss the various tools used during paranormal investigations, such as: digital voice recorders, cameras, Ghost Box, The Ovilus, and KII Meter, at Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St. on Jan. 31. This free event will be held in two sessions limited to 20 people at each session at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. You must register in advance at www.g-r-a-v-e.com. Due to certain restrictions GRAVE will not be able to actually demonstrate the equipment inside Town Hall.  This event is for entertainment and educational purposes only.

Get fit for the holidays
Low-impact aerobics are offered every Monday and Thursday at 6:15 p.m. at the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road. Cost is $5/$6 per class or save with a freedom pass purchased at the Recreation Center. No membership necessary. Call Kathy Frank at 614-836-5800.
Kids’ drawing class
Kids ages 7-14 can learn how to draw their favorite Manga character at this two week drawing class that will focus on Japanese anime, on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. at Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St. Cost is $7 for residents and $8 for non-residents. Students should bring a sketch pad and drawing pen. Register at (614) 836-3333.
 
Women’s self-defense class
A self-defense class for women will be offered Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. at Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St. Instructor Mike Marsee will teach this class for women ages 12 to adult. Participants should wear workout clothing and tennis shoes. Cost is $12. To register call (614) 836-3333.
 
Slide show of England
A free slide show of England will be offered at Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St. on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. The program covers the political and religious history of England and of course its landscape. To register call (614) 836-3333.

Couch Potatoes 101

A free "Couch Potatoes 101" class will be held Jan. 12 at Groveport Town Hall, 648 Main St., to demonstrate how to convert your television from analog to digital.  Register at (614) 836-3333.

Arthritis exercise classes
Six free classes designed for people with arthritis and other related conditions will be offered at the Groveport Recreation Center, 7370 Groveport Road on Jan. 5 & 12 at 4:30 p.m.; Jan. 8 & 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Jan. 10 at 11:30 a.m.; and Jan. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Classes offered through the National Arthritis Foundation. I-270 car crash
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury six vehicle crash that happened on Christmas Day around 10:19 a.m. on I-270 eastbound just east of the State Route 104 bridge.
A white Nissan Maxima was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes from Alum Creek Drive and it ran vehicle off the road. The Maxima collided with five other vehicles sending several people to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Maxima was taken to the OSU Medical Center in life threatening condition. Alcohol and speed are suspected in the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
