CW Sertoma meets
Canal Winchester Sertoma Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Donatos Pizza, 6310 Prentiss School Drive, Canal Winchester. Sertoma’s main sponsorship focus is speech and hearing. Sertoma exists for the noble purpose of "Service to Mankind" by communication of thoughts, ideas and concepts to accelerate human progress in health, education, freedom and democracy. CW chamber annual dinner and business expo
The Canal Winchester Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner and business expo, "Sailing to Success!", will be held March 14 at Pope John XXIII Parish with the expo from 5-7 p.m. and dinner and awards at 7 p.m. Dinner ticket is $40. Pork & sauerkraut dinner
David Lutheran Church, 300 Groveport Road, Canal Winchester, will hold its 40th annual pork & sauerkraut dinner on Feb. 5 from 4:30-7 p.m. Cost is $3 for children and $7 for adults. For information call (614) 837-7041.
Tickets are now on sale for Canal Winchester High School’s 18th annual Madrigal Dinner, William Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream." Performances will be Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. in the high school cafetorium. Theshows include a professionally catered five course meal on Feb. 16 and luncheon on Feb. 17. Relay for Life kick off
The American Cancer Society’s Canal Winchester Relay for Life Kick Off will be held at Shade on the Canal, Pine Room, on Feb. 5 from 6-9 p.m. Shades will donate 10 percent of proceeds of everyone’s meals and that money will go to the team who has the most people registered (up to 15) by the end of that night. Relay for Life will be held June 6 & 7, at the Canal Winchester High School beginning at 6 p.m. Committee and team meetings will be Feb. 21, March 13, April 17, May 8, and May 22.
This year the Wagnalls Memorial Foundation will offer 15 Mabel Wagnalls Jones scholarships to qualified Bloom Township graduates, either graduating this year or currently enrolled in college, made possible from the support of the Lithopolis American Legion Post 677 and the Golf for Scholarships outing held last fall. Scholarship applications for the 2008-09 school year are available now at The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation Offices, The Wagnalls Library and online at www.wagnalls.org. In addition to the Mabel Wagnalls Jones scholarships, the following scholarships administered by The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation are available to area students:
•Phyllis E. and Carl C. Heister – One $500 award to a qualified Bloom Township senior graduating from Bloom-Carroll focusing on business and one $500 award to a qualified Bloom Township senior graduating from Canal Winchester studying music.
•Justin P. and Pauline J. Lamb – One $500 award to qualified Bloom Township seniors graduating from Bloom-Carroll or Canal Winchester in first year of any form of certificated higher education.
•Charles V. Moore – One $500 award to qualified rural Bloom Township seniors living outside of Lithopolis Village limits and graduating from Bloom-Carroll or Canal Winchester in first year of college.
•A. B. & Hazel C. Weiser – Two $500 awards to qualified Bloom Township seniors graduating from Canal Winchester in first year of college for an education major.
