Canal Winchester Sertoma Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Donatos Pizza, 6310 Prentiss School Drive, Canal Winchester. Sertoma’s main sponsorship focus is speech and hearing. CW’s Farmer’s Market
Main Street Canal Winchester will sponsor a Farmer’s Market each Saturday through Oct. 18 in historic downtown Canal Winchester from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Wednesday evenings in August from 5-7 p.m. Vendors will offer fresh produce, flowers, hand made crafts, candy, cookies, and more. Music & Art in the Park
The village of Canal Winchester will hold its final Music & Art in the Park event of the year, "Island Rhythms on the Canal," on Aug. 15 from 6-9 p.m. The event will feature the Spirit of the Pacific Island Hula Dancers from 6-7 p.m. and the Tropics Island Quartet from 7-9 p.m. Additional activities throughout the night will include a beach-themed juggler, temporary tattoos, a limbo contest and art displays by the Canal Winchester Art Guild. Hawaiian shirts, flip-flops and other beach gear is encouraged but not required.
The concert will be held at Stradley Park Place, just north of the village municipal building at 36 S. High St. The Frances Steube Community Center, 22 S. Trine St., will be used in the case of inclement weather. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating at this free, family-friendly event. Food and drink will be available for purchase through event concessionaire, Roman’s Pizza, whose staff will be adding a Hawaiian pizza to their concert menu in spirit of this event.
Also in the island spirit is Linda Kletrovets with Ferne’s Attic on High Street, who will be handing out leis and has the Canal Winchester Steel Drum Band performing next to her store from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. Ferne’s Attic is part of the Shop, Hop and Drop put on by businesses in downtown Canal Winchester the third Friday of the month from 5-8 p.m. through September. This month participating businesses will be supporting a food drive with donated items going to the local food pantry.

CW Hall of Fame
The Canal Winchester High School Athletic Hall of Fame recently announced its 16th class of inductees. Hall of Fame inductees are:
•Bill Allen (1976) – basketball, baseball, football;
•John Bender (1960) – football, basketball, baseball, track;
•Jermaine Ward (1991) – baseball, basketball, football, track.
The Award of Merit recipient is Paul Harman (2003), sports announcer.

The Lithopolis Honeyfest is a multi-faceted festival with a mission to celebrate National Honey Month, experience the science and art of apiculture, and create a robust atmosphere rich in art, music, food, fun and people. Scholarship fund raiser
Registration is under way for the 2008 Wagnalls Memorial Foundation, 150 E. Columbus St., Lithopolis, "Golfing for Scholarships." The event takes place Sept. 14 at Pine Hill Golf Course, 4382 Kauffman Road in Carroll. Check-in and Registration is at noon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Funds from the outing will provide scholarships for local area students. Fees are $60/early registration; $65/after Aug. 14. Fees include a cart, green fees for 18 holes and dinner. Helping out
Dayspring Community Church, 3919 Brice Road, Canal Winchester, will host a yard sale Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to raise money for the the Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs and the Dayspring Community Church Food Pantry. CW Garden Club
The Canal Winchester Garden Club will meet Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 22 S. Trine St., Canal Winchester. The topic will be "Preparing for the Garden Show." All interested gardeners are invited.
Tools for Schools
For the fifth year, Canal Winchester Human Services will administer the Tools for Schools program. Through teacher referral, book bags filled with grade appropriate school supplies will be provided to children attending school in the Canal Winchester School District who cannot afford to purchase their own.
Supplies can be dropped at David’s United Church of Christ, Curves and the Canal Winchester Community Center until Labor Day. There is a need for: boxes of tissues,antibacterial hand soap, colored pencils, markers – thin and wide, graph paper, index cards, highlighters, book covers, and book bags for "older" kids

Oil painting class
An oil painting class will be held Sept 13 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Gender Road Christian Church, 5336 Gender Road, Canal Winchester. Learn how to paint with oils in this one day seminar. SEFC membership rates
The Southeastern Franklin County Chamber of Commerce (SEFC) has announced a special membership rate for businesses interested in joining the Chamber for the first time.
Now through Nov. 30, businesses may take advantage of the special rate, based on the number of full time employees: 49 or below – $125; 50 – 99 full time employees – $240 and over 300 full time employees $360.
This rate will allow membership for the remainder of 2008 and the entire 2009 calendar year. Membership in the Chamber entitles participation in programs that lower worker’s compensation rate and health care insurance. Free quotes are available for both prior to joining the Chamber; however membership is required to receive the discount.
