CW Sertoma meets
Canal Winchester Sertoma Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Donatos Pizza, 6310 Prentiss School Drive, Canal Winchester. Sertoma’s main sponsorship focus is speech and hearing. CW’s Farmer’s Market
Main Street Canal Winchester will sponsor a Farmer’s Market each Saturday through Oct. 18 in historic downtown Canal Winchester from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors will offer fresh produce, flowers, hand made crafts, candy, cookies, and more. Music & Art in the Park
Canal Winchester’s "Music and Art in the Park" free concert series will be held the third Friday of every month, May through August, from 6-9 p.m. at Stradley Park, just north of the village municipal building at 36 S. High St. Additional activities will include face painting by the Canal Winchester Art Guild, a roaming magician, a caricature artist, and art displays by the Canal Winchester Art Guild.
This year’s schedule includes:
•"A Touch of Country," July 18 with the Christy Angeletti Band from 6-9 p.m. as well as line dance instruction from 6-7 p.m. As part of this theme, area residents and businesses will have the opportunity to set up tables with pre-approved products to sell, such as produce, or items to display, such as arts and crafts.
•"Island Rhythms on the Canal" will be held Aug. 15 with Spirit of the Pacific Island hula dancers from 6-7 p.m. and the Tropics Island Quartet from 7-9 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating at this family-friendly event. Food and drink is available for purchase through event concessionaire Roman’s Pizza. Picnics are also welcome; however, alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Canal Winchester’s community center, located at 22 S. Trine Street, will be used as a backup location in the case of inclement weather for all concerts except the June 20 "Blast From the Past" event.
CWACC golf outing
The Canal Winchester Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual golf outing on July 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pine Hill Golf Course, 4382 Kauffman Road, Carroll. Registration at 7:30 a.m. with shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $65 per golfer and $260 per team. After July 4 cost is $80 per golfer and $320 per team. "Marblehead Light"
Join local Artist, Patty Sykes, a certified Robert Warren Instructor at Gender Road Christian Church on July 26 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. as she guides you to paint "Marblehead Light" on canvas in oils. CW Hall of Fame
The Canal Winchester High School Athletic Hall of Fame recently announced its 16th class of inductees. Hall of Fame inductees are:
•Bill Allen (1976) – basketball, baseball, football;
•John Bender (1960) – football, basketball, baseball, track;
•Jermaine Ward (1991) – baseball, basketball, football, track.
The Award of Merit recipient is Paul Harman (2003), sports announcer.

Grist Mill presentation

Cross Country Classic
The Canal Winchester Indians Cross Country Boosters are holding three cross country races on July 19. Starting at 8 a.m. there will be a 1.5K (approximately 1 mile) race for elementary age runners. This will be followed at 8:30 a.m. with a 2 mile race for middle school age runners. The final race of the day will be a 5K open race for runners of all ages starting at 9 a.m. The races will be conducted on the Canal Winchester High School cross country course located at 300 Washington St.
The races are dedicated to long-time Canal Winchester cross country coach, Dr. John Bender. Bender resurrected the cross country program in 1991 and has been the coach for both the high school and middle school boys and girls cross country programs ever since. Bender has coached teams and individuals to numerous league, district, and regional championships. Several years his teams finished 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 12th, and 16th at the state meet.
Cost of the races are $20 for individuals, or $50 for a family. All proceeds from the races go directly to the Canal Winchester Schools’ cross country programs.

Steel drum performances
The Winchester Steel Co., the steel drum band of Canal Winchester High School, has announced its summer concert season.

CW water conservation
The village of Canal Winchester continues to follow its revised water conservation policy that was adopted on May 2, 2006. This policy prevents lawn watering between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays, and any time on Mondays. Other uses of water, such as watering flowers and plants by hand and washing cars, are not restricted.
The village’s water conservation policy states that the village may declare a water emergency when conditions warrant. In addition to restricted watering hours effective year long, a Level I Water Emergency further restricts watering between the hours of 7-9 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Level II Water Emergency establishes that no unattended water usage or lawn sprinkling will be permitted.
The first violation of the village’s water conservation policy will result in a friendly reminder of the policy and request for compliance by division of water staff to the property owner. A final reminder, request for compliance and water shut off notification will be given upon the second violation. Should the property owner not be available during a first or second violation, the division of water staff will shut off the water sprinkler system at the faucet. Any property owner in violation of the village’s water conservation policy is guilty of a fourth degree misdemeanor and their violation may result in the termination of water service. If service is terminated, a $200 fee will be charged to restore water service.

CW "Kids Fest"
The Canal Winchester Farmers’ Market will hold its traditional "Kids Fest" celebration on July 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in historic downtown Canal Winchester.
Kids Fest vendors, who will offer products and services geared to children, will be located in the Stradley Pavillion area.
